Peter Jackson makes long movies and this is no exception. He's dreamed of making this film since he was 9 years old and the love is there. It's a tour de force. Everything is top notch. My only complaint is that it's too long. Way too long by at least half an hour (it's over 3 hours as it is). Perhaps it's my age, but I felt the battle scenes and chase scenes just went on and on an on and on and on. They were amazing and beautifully done. It was just too much in the same sense that Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom didn't know when to quit sometimes. That all said, it is definitely a brilliant film and a must-see --- especially if you've seen the original 1933 movie. Tons of nifty stuff in the special features section. This 2005 edition is a truer remake of the 1933 version than the 1976 or 2017 versions. The 2017 film Kong: Skull Island is impressive in its effects but is hollow in story which is loosely based on the 1933 version but excessively violent and often stupid to the point of madness.
