My Summary: Joanne controls the weather so naturally her life is like a tornado. In this installment of the series she finds herself yet again having to save the world from another disaster only this time it has nothing to do with the weather. Kevin, a pathetic teenager who more or less stole a really powerful Djinn (or genie like the ones who live in bottles) is in Las Vegas screwing up the balance of the world. This is of course Joanne’s fault because of her actions in the previous book so it’s up to her to do something about it. Her lover is taken away, she gets killed (again), finds out her whole community is corrupt and not the good doers she thinks they are, and you hear a story of another death she is responsible for that is essentially what the whole conflict of this book turns out to be centered around! Not to mention a whole slue of twists that I wouldn’t want to ruin. My thoughts: It took me a little while to get into it at the beginning, but by the end I definitely felt emotionally invested in the characters (unlike the previous 2 books in the series). The flashbacks in this book were definitely awkward compared to the others, they were long and thrown in at odd times without a very good transition though I realize it was necessary in order to introduce the conflict going on. Other than that I really enjoyed the book. I love how complex of a world the author has created, but she doesn’t play it safe and simple she keeps each storyline just as complicated as the series concept. I enjoyed how unpredictable the climax was; it definitely kept me interested since I had no idea what was going to happen next. I wish I could’ve read it in one sitting, having to put it down and pick it back up again really took away from the flow but that’s the nature of life. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
