As far back as I can clearly remember I have always been an ardent fan of vintage, "Looney Tune" cartoons from Warner Bros. Studios. And that is the #1 reason why I enjoyed "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" as much as I did. The sheer number of classic cartoon characters who made surprise cameo appearances in this film was absolutely amazing. Set in Hollywood (circa 1947) and featuring an astoundingly delightful blend of non-stop live-action, mixed generously with lots of dazzling animation, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" pays loving homage to those good, old days of classic cartoons when cartoon characters seemed to possess even more star-power, and, yes, personality than did a lot of the human actors in that golden era of yesteryear. With plenty of zany, fast-paced Comedy/Action and an impressive attention to period detail, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" (from 1988) won Oscars for "Best Visual Effects" - "Best Editing" - And a "Special Achievement Award" went to Richard Williams for animation direction and the creation of the new cartoon characters.
