Retreat From a Rising Sea

Hard Decisions in An Age of Climate Change
Mar 13, 2018Liber_vermis rated this title 4 out of 5 stars
This clearly and powerfully written book presents the future prospect for humanity confronted by inexorably rising sea levels. About 20 colour photographs compliment the text. The first photograph shows the author standing on his parent's home, "five blocks from the beach", reduced to a bare concrete slab by Hurricane Katrina. The author advocates a "managed retreat" by threatened cities; and preparation to receive tens of millions of climate refugees. An outline for a sea level rise action plan is provided on page 73. A bibliography relevant to each chapter is provided as end notes; and the book has an index. A "must read" for residents of coastal cities.
