3.5 stars... Although Michael Smith remains my favourite celebrity chef, I admit that I wasn't inspired by his newest book. "Fast Flavours" reads very similarly to Smith's other five books except for its emphasis on speed and minimal ingredients. Flipping through the recipes, I couldn't help but think: been there, done that. However, on the whole Smith presents a well written cookbook with clear instructions, ingredients you can easily find in any supermarket, and photographs of every tasty creation. He even encourages the reader to use convection ovens, pressure cookers, slow cookers, and other cooking methods to suit the amount of time available to follow the recipe. A solid cookbook even though die-hard Smith fans won't find anything new or noteworthy within its pages.
