From the author of WAITING TO EXHALE...

Best friends Savannah, Gloria, Bernadine, and Robin have had their share of broken marriages, concessions, and the lessons learned from taking happiness for granted. Now, with each at a crossroads that will define their future, it's time for these women to get their act together. They're on their way to healing past hurts and to reclaiming the joy and the dreams they deserve. And they're doing it with spirit, sass, and hard-earned faith in one another. It's been fifteen years since they exhaled: now they're finally learning to breathe.

Age is just a number for lifelong friends Bernadine, Savannah, Gloria, and Robin. Picking up over a decade after 'Waiting to Exhale' was completed, the ladies are now facing 50 and dealing with serious life changes. From failed marriages, losing a loved one, to losing a job, the foursome learn that they can still count on each other and take things day by day to find their own version of happiness.

I loved how the ladies of Waiting to Exhale embraced the fifth decade with courage. This read is a chronicle of the current events for 2005 as well. I forgot Vandross died within the last decade. The overarching theme is live life with no regrets and forgive so you can place that energy on being happy. This is a real feel good read.

I've read many of Terry McMillan's books, including Waiting to Exhale - and this was not among my favorites. It was another quick read and modestly entertaining. Looking forward to more from her, though. I agree with the other review (TED) B- at best.

I enjoyed this book!

I didn't read the first book (Waiting to Exhale) in this two-book series and maybe that would have helped. Although this book helped passed the time, it was a bit hard for me to get into. Although this is a term I really dislike the term Chick Book, I can't think of how else to describe this book. Although not terrible, I would rate this book as a B minus, at best.

"Nearly 20 years after the chick-lit classic Waiting to Exhale, Robin, Savannah, Gloria and Bernadine are back with some mid-life dramas."
A Chatelaine top pick.
