Paris, 1967. Disillusioned by their suburban lifestyles, a group of middle-class students, led by Guillaume and Veronique, form a smal Maoist cell and plan to change the world by any means necessary. After studying the growth of communism in China, the students decide they must use terrorism and violence to ignite their own revolution.

This is a classic example of French New Wave film. Godard employs many devices taken from Bertolt Brecht’s Epic Theatre, and if the viewer is unaware of this or unable to appreciate it they likely will find it mystifying and difficult to watch. It is my favorite Godard film.
