It is here in Wall that young Tristran Thorn loses his heart to the town beauty--a woman who is as cold and distant as the star she and Tristran see fall from the sky on a crisp October evening. To gain the hand of his beloved, Tristran rashly vows to fetch the fallen star and embarks upon a lover's quest that will carry him over the ancient wall and into a world beyond his wildest imagingings...

Reading a Neil Gaiman novel is always a pleasure for me. Just when I think I know where the plot is going, or even a single scene, he surprises me with some clever twist or imaginative phrasing. Stardust is a quick read, but that in no way diminishes the details Gaiman gives his well-crafted world.

The otherwise ordinary village of Wall contains a pathway, a literal breach in a wall, to a magical faerie realm. It is through this realm that Tristan Thorne must travel to capture a fallen star. And he will do this all for love.

Fantastic book, a little hard to get into at first but this shows that good things really do come to those who wait. At risk of sounding like a fortune cookie I'll say that if you have a little patience, you will be richly rewarded. The best book I've read in a very long time and definitely up there with The Help, Hunger Games, and even Harry Potter.

I liked the movie better and gave up reading before I finishing it. Was interesting, but just didn't hold my attention very well.
