Add a CommentThis is a gorgeous and unique film. Way better than Zootopia and Moana by FAR! I would love loved to see this win for best animated feature film. Kubo is just such a charming and intelligent character! It's one of those movies where you can't help but want to root for the hero the entire time :-)
Brilliant story and characters!
Every morning, a young brave boy named Kubo sets off to the nearby village. Using his special gifts he makes his origami creations come to life as he tells the tale of the mighty Hanzo, his father, and the evil moon king, his grandfather. Kubo must never stay out past dark otherwise his sinister grandfather and wicked aunts will find him. Kubo then teams up with Monkey and Beetle to find the magical armour and bring the moon king to justice. They are faced with many strange obstacles along the journey. The fate of Kubo’s life lies in his own hands. Will Kubo make it in time or will the moon king be one step ahead?

Must watch !
Absolutely gorgeous animation and atmospheric music combine in this heart-rending and heart-warming tale of a boy with a truly magical talent for music and origami, who sets off on a quest that will bring him face to face with love, loss, and the chance to transform the darkness of his family's past into a story of hope--if he can find the heart. I was amazed to learn that this movie was created almost wholly through stop-motion puppets and sets--the engineering that went into creating the characters and backdrops is mind-blowing, and the sheer scope of this project was like nothing I have ever seen. The story was complex and poignant, sometimes-scary, sometimes-funny, and always gripping, and I couldn't help falling in love with a certain snaggle-toothed skeleton...
I love how this is partially about the power of storytelling. It's also about family—both good and bad—and courage and terror and everything in between, but it's in large part about the power of a story to shape reality.
Beautiful movie, touching moral too.
A gorgeous animated folk tale. I see it becoming a classic!
Spectacular animation and story-telling. Those with an analytical mindset should pay close attention to the occurrence of simple geometric shapes and numbers. Some scenes may be scary for small children but you will likely want to watch this more than once.
Way better than Moana and Zootopia. This movie should have won the oscar for best animated feature.
